ICHM Continuing Education

A core value of InterChurch Health Ministries (ICHM) Canada is a commitment to promoting ongoing educational opportunities for church health committees, interested congregational members and parish nurses.

The Parish Nursing Education Program now offered through the Westburg Institute, is called the Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Education Program.  The program provides weekly classes, online courses and retreat settings for independent studies and classwork. Visit their website for a schedule of classes, dates and  locations.

Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) offers a specialized interest group for Faith Community Nurses, called the Faith Community Nurses Interest Group (FCNIG).

Canadian Association of Parish Nurse Ministries (CAPNM) is a health ministry resource in Canada, which emphasizes the wholeness of body, mind and spirit.

ICHM Professional Practice Group

Faith Community nurses and student nurses in the education program attend geographically-based Parish Nurse Professional Practice Group (PNPG) monthly meetings. These groups provide ongoing professional support; are an avenue for resource sharing; problem solving; and are an educational component of, and spiritual support for, each nurse’s parish nursing practice.

Parish nurses who are geographically dispersed attend a monthly meeting via Skype/ZOOM and other online meeting technology.
