Parish Nurse Support Groups
Since the inception of the five pilot projects in Parish Nursing Ministry in 1995, InterChurch Health Ministries Canada has recognized the pioneering nature of the ministry and has committed itself to the ongoing support of Parish Nurses and congregations through regular support group meetings. Participation in a Parish Nurse Support Group is a required part of the Parish Nurse Candidate experience within the Parish Nursing Ministry Education Program. Parish Nurse Graduates find that their ongoing participation in these groups is very beneficial to their ministry.
Regular, regional, monthly meetings take place or by teleconferencing for partners located at a distance. Each group has a convener who facilitates the meetings to ensure that participants have an opportunity for confidential peer group sharing and theological reflection on their ministry.
Convenors maintain an ongoing contact with the Regional Parish Nurse Coordinator to facilitate communication and sharing of information and resources.
Our current Parish Nurse Support Groups are:
- Durham Region
- Cobourg / Peterborough
- Halton / Peel
- Northern Lights (Owen Sound to Sudbury)
- Southwestern Ontario
- Toronto Central
- York Region
