Affiliates
In response to request from various areas and regions of the country and to assist groups in initiating and developing Parish Nursing Ministry, we have implemented the establishment of Affiliates of InterChurch Health Ministries.
This model identifies the process and procedures for the establishment of an Affiliate in a region where parishes, congregations, agencies, clergy and nurses wish to explore partnership with InterChurch Health Ministries. The proposal provides guidelines, rather than regulations, and its focus is on the development of an organism rather than on an inflexible structure and organization. By nature, Affiliates will function with a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness in order to react to the unique features and dynamics of the region in which it will serve and minister.
The final form and shape of the Affiliate will be determined by the ministry that evolves and the partnerships that support and enable it at all levels. This cannot be pre-determined because of our commitment to open-endedness.
ICHM began in Ontario and has established an affiliate relationship with parish nursing ministries in both New Brunswick and Saskatchewan. Each Affiliate is served by a Regional Director and a Parish Nurse Regional Coordinator.
